It's not often in landscape photography that subject, compostion and light all come together purely by chance. When it happens, as it did on this occasion, it's extremely exciting and one of the reasons I enjoy photography so much.
On this trip I'd managed to get lost in the dark, driving around in the pre-dawn hours trying to find another location entirely. Frustrated I'd headed back thinking the trip was a waste when this image presented itself like a gift. The water was amazingly still for an ocean bay constrasting well with the storm clouds that minutes later broke the spell that seemed cast on this scene.
